Prerequisites
Before starting, make sure you have:
QR Codes with a custom domain from your current platform.
A Uniqode account on the Plus plan or higher, with a custom domain set up.
Important: If your current domain does not already include the prefix qr (for example, if it’s scan.yourdomain.com or links.yourdomain.com), set up a 301 redirect so that it points to your new subdomain with the prefix qr while retaining the original URL path (e.g., qr.yourdomain.com).
Migration Steps
1. Export QR Codes from your current platform
Download your existing QR Codes in a CSV file. This file should contain all key details, especially the URL path or the unique path at the end of each QR Code’s URL.
For example: For the URL https://qr.yourbrand.com/summer-sale, the path (also know as a slug) is summer-sale
2. Bulk create QR Codes in Uniqode
Go to your Uniqode dashboard.
Use the Bulk Create option to upload your exported CSV.
3. Verify slugs in the CSV
Make sure the slug (URL path) for each QR Code matches what you were using on your previous platform.
This ensures your QR Codes remain functional and recognizable.
4. Apply a QR Code template
Create or select a design template in Uniqode.
Apply it to the bulk-created QR Codes for consistent branding.
5. Transfer and set up your custom domain
Follow the steps here to set up your custom domain on Uniqode
Note: DNS changes can take a few minutes up to 24 hours to propagate, depending on your registrar.
Next Steps
Once the migration is complete, test a few QR Codes to confirm they work as expected. From here, you can manage, track, and update your QR Codes directly within Uniqode.
