Capture and organize event leads with Event Lead Capture

Scan badges at events, attach contacts to events, and track lead performance in one dashboard

Written by Bidisha Sinha

Event Lead Capture helps you and your team turn conversations at conferences, trade shows, and networking events into organized leads. You create an event in the Uniqode dashboard, and your team scans attendee badges with the Uniqode mobile app. Each scanned contact is automatically attached to the event, so you can see how many scans and leads every event generated, and who on your team captured them.

Prerequisites

Event Lead Capture is available as an add-on to any paid Uniqode plan. Default limits apply to the number of events and related features. Contact your account manager to adjust these limits.

Who can use this feature

  • Owners and Admins can create, edit, and delete events, and view metrics for the whole team.

  • Editors can view their own metrics in the Events Dashboard, and attach or remove events from contacts.

  • Viewers can view their own metrics, but can't attach or remove events from contacts.

Create an event

  1. Sign in to your Uniqode account.

  2. Go to the Events Dashboard.

  3. Click Create Event.

  4. Enter the event details:

    • Event Name (required)

    • Event Date (required) — the start and end date of the event

    • Event Type — Conference, Trade Show, Networking Event, Customer Event, Webinar, or Other

    • Event Location

  5. Click Save.

Your event now appears in the Events Dashboard. Uniqode sets its status automatically based on the event dates:

  • Upcoming — the event hasn't started yet

  • Active — the event is in progress. Active events are available in the mobile scanner.

  • Completed — the event end date has passed

Note: You can create an event with dates in the past. This is useful if you want to attach contacts from an event that has already happened.

Capture leads by scanning badges

  1. Open the Uniqode mobile app and go to the scanner.

  2. Check the event shown on the scan page:

    • If there's one active event, it's selected automatically.

    • If there are multiple active events, select the event you're scanning for. The app remembers your choice.

  3. Scan the attendee's badge.

  4. The contact is saved and attached to the selected event. The Events Dashboard updates with the new lead.

To switch events, tap the selected event on the scan page and choose a different active event.

Note: If there are no events in your account, the app lets you know. Only Owners and Admins can create events.

Scan badges offline

You can keep scanning without an internet connection, as long as your events were synced to your device beforehand.

  • The active event is selected automatically, and you can switch between events already synced to your device.

  • Contacts you capture offline keep their event and sync automatically when you're back online.

  • Events created after your device went offline won't appear until you reconnect.

  • You can't create events, or search and filter contacts by event, while offline.

Attach an event to an existing contact

Contacts received through a QR contact exchange or added manually aren't attached to an event automatically. You can attach an event to them yourself, from the mobile app or the web dashboard.

From the web dashboard

  1. Go to Contacts.

  2. Click on the three-dot menu, select Add Event.

  3. Attach an event from the list of existing events.

  4. Save your changes. The event now shows in the contacts table, and the contact appears in that event's dashboard.

To remove an event from a contact, open the contact and remove the attached event.

From the mobile app

  1. Open the contact in the Uniqode mobile app.

  2. Edit the contact and attach an event.

  3. Save your changes.

Track event performance in the Events Dashboard

Open any event from the Events Dashboard to see:

  • Event details — name, type, date, location, and status

  • Number of scans — contacts saved by scanning and attached to the event

  • Number of leads — unique contacts attached to the event

  • Top Performers — scans and leads created by each team member

  • Contacts — every contact attached to the event, with search, filtering, sorting, and pagination

You can export the event's contacts as a CSV, or export the dashboard as a PDF.

If you haven't connected a CRM, you'll see a banner on the dashboard with a link to connect one, so your event leads can sync automatically.

Note: Editors and Viewers see only their own metrics in the Events Dashboard.

Tips for best results

  • Create events before the event day

Set up events while you're online so they sync to your team's devices and are ready to use, even on a spotty venue Wi-Fi.

  • Attach events to QR exchange contacts right away

Contacts from QR exchanges aren't linked to an event automatically, so attach them soon after the conversation to keep your event metrics accurate.

  • Add notes after each conversation

Text and voice notes work on event contacts, so capture what you discussed while it's fresh for a more relevant follow-up.
