Getting started with Uniqode MCP

Learn how to connect Uniqode MCP to your AI assistant for quick access to your QR Code performance

Written by Bidisha Sinha

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude securely connect to external tools.

Note: For now, MCP is only available for Claude but will be available on other AI assistants soon.

Uniqode MCP lets you talk to your Uniqode account through Claude in plain English. Instead of clicking through the dashboard, you can ask Claude to pull scan analytics, find your top performers, and analyze QR Code performance — and Claude does it for you.

Prerequisites

You'll need:

  • Uniqode Plus plan or above. The MCP connector uses the same permissions as your account, so make sure your role has access to the features you want to use.

  • A Claude account with a paid plan

How to connect Uniqode MCP to Claude

Uniqode is available as a community connector on Claude. Once connected, It gives Claude read access to your Uniqode account so you can analyze scan data through conversation.

  1. Log in to claude.ai (web) or the Claude desktop app.

  2. Go to CustomizeConnectors.

  3. Search for Uniqode MCP. Click Connect.

  4. Claude will redirect you to a Uniqode sign-in page.

  5. Log in with the same credentials you use for the Uniqode dashboard and approve the access request.

  6. You'll be sent back to Claude once the connection is established.

  7. You should now see Uniqode in your list of connectors with a green "Connected" indicator.

Once you've connected the Uniqode MCP, you can start using it right away by just going to the chat and typing in your questions.

What can you do with Uniqode MCP

Uniqode MCP exposes a focused set of analytics tools for your QR Codes. Here are the most common workflows:

Pull scan analytics

Ask about any time period in plain English: "last 7 days," "this quarter," "April 2026," "yesterday," or a specific date range like "May 1 to May 15." Claude resolves the dates in your account's timezone automatically.

Examples:

  • Total scans: "How many scans did all our QR Codes get last month?"

  • Unique audience: "How many unique people scanned our codes this week?"

  • Top performers: "Show me the top 10 QR Codes this quarter."

  • Underperformers: "Which 10 codes had the fewest scans last month?"

  • Daily trend: "Plot daily scans for our menu QR Codes over the last 30 days."

  • Country breakdown: "Which countries are scanning our codes?"

  • Device split: "What's the iOS vs Android breakdown?"

  • Time of day: "When during the day do most scans happen?"

  • Category comparison: "How are Website QR Codes performing vs PDF QR Codes?"

Filter analytics by tag or name

If you organize QR Codes with tags or follow a naming convention, you can scope analytics to a subset:

"Show me scans for QR Codes tagged 'Retail' this month."

"How are my codes with 'menu' in the name performing?"

"Compare the 'Campaign Q2' tag vs the 'Campaign Q1' tag."

Drill into a specific QR Code

Once Claude shows you results, you can dig into individual codes by ID:

"Tell me more about code 1856990 — country breakdown and device split."

Privacy and security

  • Permissions: The MCP connector inherits your Uniqode permissions. Claude can only see and do what your account is already allowed to see and do.

  • Tool permissions: You can set the Read-only tools permission as "Always allow". For the Write/delete tools, you can set permissions as needed.

  • OAuth tokens: Authentication uses OAuth. Your Uniqode password is never shared with Claude or Anthropic.

  • Scope: The current Uniqode MCP exposes scan analytics for dynamic QR Codes. It does not currently expose digital business cards, billing, user management, or destructive actions like bulk delete.

  • Audit trail: Actions taken through Claude appear in your Uniqode dashboard with the same audit logging as any other change made by your account.

Note: If the tool list doesn't appear after connecting the MCP, click the three-dot menu next to Disconnect and select Refresh tool list. Alternatively, you can also hard refresh the page.

Tips for getting better results

  • Be specific about time periods. "Last month" is unambiguous, but "recently" leaves room for interpretation. Claude will tell you the exact dates it resolved so you can correct if needed.

  • Reference QR IDs to drill down. If Claude shows you a table of QR Codes with their IDs, you can ask follow-ups like "show me country data for codes 1856990 and 1856991" without having to re-run the search.

  • Be explicit about the organization. If you have access to multiple Uniqode organizations, Claude will ask which one to use the first time. You can also say it upfront: "Using the Acme Marketing org, show me scan analytics…"

Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to solve them:

  • Claude can't connect to Uniqode
This is almost always a blocked pop-up. Allow pop-ups for claude.ai and click Connect again. If you're using a strict privacy or tracking-protection setting in your browser, switch to "standard" for the sign-in step.

  • Claude connected, but says it can't find any data
The most common cause is being scoped to an organization with no scans in the time range you asked for. Try "list my organizations" and pick a different one, or widen the time range (e.g., "last 90 days" instead of "yesterday").

  • Analytics look off by a few hours
All time ranges resolve in your Uniqode account timezone. Confirm the timezone under Profile → Settings, then start a fresh chat in Claude so the new timezone gets picked up.
