Uniqode offers a range of user roles with specific permissions to ensure effective management and security. Below is a detailed overview of the roles, their permissions, and why certain roles have specific access.
You can add multiple users to the same Organization and assign different access levels to each of them. You can also create multiple Sub-organizations under the Master Organization and assign access levels to each user.
Understanding Master and Sub-organizations
The distinction between a Master Organization and a Sub-organization is crucial to understanding how user roles and permissions are managed across different levels.
Master Organization:
The Master Organization is the highest level in the organizational hierarchy. It encompasses all other Sub-organizations within its structure.
The Master Organization's Owner controls the entire Organization, including all Sub-organizations.
Depending on their role, users in the Master Organization may have visibility into the resources and analytics of all Sub-organizations. This makes it easier to manage and monitor the performance and operations across the entire Organization. (A detailed matrix of these permissions is shown below.)
Master Organization permissions differ from features such as SSO and custom domains, which require account-level permissions (usually granted to the Owner only).
Sub-organization:
Sub-organizations are semi-independent Organizations that an Owner / Administrator can create under the Master Organization.
Sub-organizations typically have Admins who manage resources, users, and settings specific to their unit. However, they do not have the same level of control or visibility into other Sub-organizations or the Master Organization.
Permissions in Sub-organizations are usually more restricted compared to the Master Organization. For example, Sub-organization Admins cannot create new Sub-organizations.
Sub-organization Admins and Editors manage resources and campaigns specific to their Sub-organization. They can create and manage QR Codes, landing pages, and other assets within their domain, but they do not have control over other Sub-organizations or the Master Organization.
Users in a Sub-organization may have access to view and export analytics data related to their specific Sub-organization. However, they cannot access analytics from the Master Organization.
Below is a detailed overview of the roles, their permissions, and why certain roles have specific access.
Key role descriptions
There are four levels of access:
Owner: Owners are individuals who signed up for a Uniqode account.
The Owner handles all payments and subscriptions for the account. Owners have all permissions, including managing and transferring ownership of QR Codes and campaigns.
Note: Every account has only one Owner. The Owner manages the Master Organization and all its Sub-organizations.
Administrators: Admins have comprehensive control over user management and high-level Organization settings. They can add or remove users from their Organization. They can manage all resources created by users within the Organization, including QR Codes, landing pages, and forms.
The Admin role is designed to manage Organization structure effectively, ensuring users have the right access.
Note: While Admins can change other users' campaigns without explicit permission, they will receive a prompt indicating that someone else originally created the campaign.
Editor: Editors can create and manage their QR Codes but cannot view and edit QR Codes created by other users. They also do not have permission to manage user roles or settings.
The Editor role is designed to balance creativity with collaboration, allowing Editors to focus on content creation and campaign management.
Note: Editors can see and modify only their resources, but not those belonging to other Editors or Administrators.
Viewer: Viewers have read-only access to the content, enabling them to track campaign performance without making changes. This role is ideal for stakeholders who need insight into campaign data without editing rights.
By restricting editing capabilities, Owners or Admins can ensure Viewers access valuable data insights without creating, editing, or changing any campaigns.
Note: Multi-user access management is available only in the PLUS plan and above.
How to add new users to your Organization
Log in to the Uniqode dashboard and head to ‘User Management’ by clicking on the profile at the top right.
You will now see all the users and their access levels. To add a new user, click the ‘Add’ button.
On the window that appears, enter the email address, Organization, access group (Administrator, Editor, or Viewer), and name of the user you wish to add.
The user will receive an email inviting them to join your Uniqode Organization.
Note - Owners and Administrators can always change the access level for a user by selecting the edit button next to their name in the Manage users section.
