A Mobile App QR Code can also redirect the end-user to a specific page within your app. It operates in two ways:

1. If an end-user who scans your Mobile App QR Code has installed your app, they can scan your Mobile App QR Code to reach a specific in-app page.

2. If an end-user who scans your Mobile App QR Code doesn’t have your app pre-installed, they will be automatically redirected (for App links and Universal links only) to your app’s page at the appropriate app store. Once they install the app, they can again scan the QR Code to land on a specific page in the app.

With deep links, your audience will no longer have to search for your desired in-app page. A strategically created Mobile App QR Code significantly improves your product’s user journey.

Terms used for Mobile App QR Code

Deeplinking refers to creating and deploying links directly to specific content in a mobile app. URI scheme links (referred to as Deep link URI on the dashboard), Universal links(iOS), and App links(Android) are the most popular ways to implement deep links.

Deep link URI: A URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) is a reference or identifier that specifies the location of a resource on the internet (such as within a platform or an app). Deep link URIs help create unique links that help a user identify the source of the link. The source can be web pages, documents, files, services, or any other digital or physical entity accessed with a URI.

Deep links do not automatically redirect users to their respective app stores. The user must click a link to get guided to the app store.

There are many URI links like HTTP/HTTPS Links, FTP Links, File Links, Mailto Links, Tel URIs, URN (Uniform Resource Name) links, etc.

Universal link: A universal link is primarily associated with Apple's iOS ecosystem to seamlessly connect mobile apps and websites, enabling deep linking and a smoother user experience for users navigating between the web and native mobile applications on their iOS devices.

Universal links require proper configuration by app developers and website owners. The developers must set up their mobile app and website to work together using Apple's App Site Association file and other associated technologies for a universal link to function correctly.

App link: App links provide a way for Android apps to establish a direct and seamless connection between web content (such as a website) and specific activities or screens within the app. The primary purpose of app links is to enhance the user experience by ensuring that when a user clicks on a link associated with a particular app, the link opens the corresponding app instead of launching a web browser.

App store URL: An App store URL is a link to an app store. App stores are online marketplaces or platforms where one can browse, search for, download, and install mobile applications (apps). These URLs are typically used to access app stores specific to different operating systems.

Web URL: It is a link you can configure for your end users to be redirected to if they are accessing your QR Code from a platform that is neither Android, iOS, iPad, or MacOS.
